Arsenyev graduated from the Naval Corps. He participated in the Crimean War of 1853-1856 and the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1978.<br/>He was awarded the Diamond St. Alexander Nevsky Order, the White Eagle Order, the I Class Order of St. Ann, the I Class Order of St. Vladimir, the I Class Order of St. Stanislav with swords, the Prussian Order of Red Eagle, the Bavarian Order of St. Michael, and the National Order of the Legion of Honor.
