On the 25th-26th we attacked, defeated, crashed, burnt, sank and turned to ashes the enemy’s fleet and became the rulers of the archipelago” (an extract from the report of Admiral G. Spiridonov).<br/>The Chesme Column is the most magnificent monument of Russian military glory expressing the sea power of Russia. It was designed by architect Antonio Rinaldi.
