The Russian army under the command of General P.A. Rumyantsev gained the victory at the Kagul River. Being the foremost Russian generals P.A. Rumyantsev not only revived but improved the Russian art of war. The monument was designed by Antonio Rinaldi in 1771-1772. As one of the most modest of all monuments of military glory it attracts attention by delicate proportions and unusual dark greyand-white marble.
