\n \n The year of the 200th birthday of A.S. Pushkin was announced by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) as the International Year of Pushkin. 6 June was approved as a State Holiday, A.S. Pushkin's Day of Russia, according to the decree of the President of Russia. Pushkin's assembly and presenting Pushkin's Jubilee Medals was held in the Lyceum Museum. The granite slab-stone \"Genio loci\" (\"To the Genius of Place\") was put near the House of Directors of the Lyceum on the corner of Sadovaya Street and Litseysky Line.

17 September. The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II visited the Chapel of St. Prince Igor of Chernigov and the Catherine Palace in Pushkin Town.

\"Okean-Trading\" limited company producing fish products in vacuum packing began to operate. Its production volume was about Rb 200,000,000 per year.

Pushkin Town schools' graduates got 22 golden medals and 35 silver ones.
