He studied in Kharkov and was a student of M. V. Dobuzhinsky, B. M. Kustodiev, A. P. Ostroumova-Lebedeva in the New Arts Workshop in St. Petersburg in 1913-16. He also graduated from Petersburg University with a major in law in 1912. A member of the World of Art Association from 1915. He was a teacher in the Higher Education Institute of Photography and Technology from 1918, the Central Technical Drawing School in 1918-19, and the Higher Art and Technical Workshop in 1921-23. He was also the curator of the Hermitage's department of engraving in 1918-30. In lithography and etching techniques, he adhered to an austere classic style. He created a series of portraits of artists and scientists, such as Sergey Prokofiev in 1927, I. A. Orbeli in 1942, E. A. Mravinsky in 1947, and G. S. Ulanova in 1950, albums of lithographs, including the Portraits of Russian Artists published in 1922 and 1927, two issues of the Russian Writers published in 1927-29, etc., as well as lyrical landscapes, a number of them devoted to Leningrad. He took part in the activities of the Fighting Pencil Association during the siege of Leningrad and painted a series of portraits of the Baltic Fleet's pilots, which was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1946. He lived at 24 Bolshoy Avenue of Vasilievsky Island (memorial plaque) from 1915. He was buried at Bogoslovskoe Cemetery.<br/><br/>Reference: Чернова Г. А. Георгий Семенович Верейский.
