\n \n BRIER, a private publishing house established in 1906 by Z.I. Grzhebin (1877 - 1929) and S.Y. Kopelman (1881-1944). The publishing house issued collected works of L.N. Andreev, B.K. Zaytsev, S.N. Sergeev-Tsensky, F. Sologub, The Library of Foreign Writers Series (included the works of K. Hamsun, G. Wells, G. d'Annunzio, G. Flauber et al.), Humorous Library Series (works of A.T. Averchenko, Sasha Cherny, J.K. Jerome, Mark Twain et al. were published) and the Northern Collections Series. The publishing house issued an almanac (collections 1-26, 1907-16) where Andreev (17 works altogether), A. Bely, V.Y. Bryusov, I.A. Bunin, N.M. Minsky, A.N. Tolstoy, F. Sologub, G.I. Chulkov et al. were published. Brier invited such artists as I.Y. Bilibin, M.V. Dobuzhinsky, A.N. Benois, N.K. Rerikh, S.V. Chekhonin to work for them. The office of the publishing house was situated at 31 Nikolaevskaya Street (present-day Marata Street). In 1918 the publishing house moved to Moscow, only to be closed in 1922.
