Delvig's editorship until 12 October 1830 (64 issues), and from 9 October 1830 O. М. Somov was editor (as a condition for the resumption of its publication after it had been suspended by censorship). Alexander Pushkin had been actively engaged in its organisation and publication until he left St. Petersburg in March of 1830. After Delvig's death P. A. Pletnev took up the newspaper. The Literaturnaya gazeta was conceived as an organ of the literary group close to Pushkin, thus translating into action the idea of its own journal, which emerged at the time of the journal Arzamas. In the literary and public minds the newspaper was perceived as an alternative to F. V. Bulgarins newspaper Severnaya Pchela both became involved in polemics revolving around the juxtaposition of the literary aristocracy and the literary industry. The paper was aimed mainly at litterateurs. In 1830 the paper had 100 subscribers, and was published in K. Kray's printing house (Gorokhovaya Street, section of house 11). The newspaper published passages from novels, narratives, poetry, critical articles and those on popular science, bibliographies; V. P. Langer's regular series of St. Petersburg art events reviews. The newspaper staff body was comprised of the contributors to the almanac Severnye tsvety. The periodical laid emphasise on new works of Russian and European literature. The Literaturnaya Gazeta also published Nikolay Gogol's and A. V. Koltsov's first works. 2) A newspaper published in 1840-49, a rebranded version of the Literaturnye Pribavleniya k Russkomu Invalidu. Its subheading read Vestnik Nauk, Iskusstv, Literatury, Novostey, Teatrov i Mod. The paper passed through several editors, including A.A. Krayevsky, as the publisher and editor-in-chief; F.А. Koni (1841), N. А. Polevoy (1845), R. M. Zotov (1847-49). The paper maintained Pushkin's position in the polemics with the triumvirate of journals (Severnaya pchela, Biblioteka dlya chteniya, Syn Otechestva), Bulgarin's manner and the editorial tactics of the Severnaya Pchela, were exposed in Koni's vaudeville-comedy Petersburg apartment, which enjoyed an acclaimed success on the Petersburg stage in the season in 1840-41. Nikolay Nekrasov headed the Petersburg Chronicle section (1844), Vissarion Belinsky's articles were regularly published in the newspaper until 1845.

References: Блинова Е. М.
