\n \n IVANOV Georgy Vladimirovich (1894-1958), poet, author of memoirs. Studied in St. Petersburg, at the Second Cadet Corps (didn't graduate). In 1911 became acquainted with A.A. Blok, entered the circle of Egofuturists, it was then he issued his first collection of poems Departure to the Island of Cythera (on the title page - 1912). His second collection, Ben (1914), displayed Ivanov' closeness to some principles of Acmeism. In 1914-17 his works were widely published in literary journals, as an author of modern poetry review of the journal Apollon he replaced N.S.Gumilev who had gone to the front; together with G.V. Adamovich he headed the second Guild of Poets, was a prominent figure of Brodyachaya Sobaka (Stray Dog) Literary Artistic Cabaret. Before Ivanov left Russia (1922, together with his wife - I.V. Odoevtseva), three more collections of his poems had been published: Heather (1916), Gardens (1921), Icon-lamp (1922). He took an active part in the work of World Literature Publishing House and the Third Guild of Poets; was a secretary of the Union of Poets. Many 1920s-30s memoirs of Ivanov are devoted to the Petersburg period of his life (see Petersburg winters, 1928, updated and expanded edition of 1958), that were severely criticised by A.A. Akhmatova, M.I. Tsvetaeva and others. Before the emigration, had lived at 20 Pochtamtskaya Street.
