Participated in the wars with France in 1805 (particularly distinguished itself in the battle by Austerlitz), 1806-07 and 1812-14, and in suppressing of the Polish Revolt of 1830-31. In WW I of 1914-18 the regiment was dispatched to the North-Western front as part of the 1st Guards Cavalry Division. In early 1918 it was disbanded. Cavalier-Guards Regiment was considered one of the most privileged guards regiments, and was a constant participant in all ceremonies at court and in the capital. Its officers stemmed as a rule from wealthy and noble families. The service in the Cavalier Guards Regiment often created favourable prerequisites for a successful military and civil career. In the first quarter of the 19th century quite a number of officers of the regiment were members of secret Decembrist societies. On formation the Cavalier Guards Regiment was stationed in the so called Baurov House (now an area by 2 Konnogvardeysky Lane), afterwards in the former Reserve Court of the Palace Management. Architect L. Rusca was in charge of the construction work of the barracks (Nos. 38, 40, 41 Shpalernaya Street, and Nos. 20, 22, 37, 39 Zakharyevskaya Street). The regiment's chapel was the SS. Zachariah and Elizabeth Church (demolished in 1947). The Cavalier Guards Regiment gave name to Kavalergardskaya Street.

References: Панчулидзев С. А.
