Alexey Grigorievich Razumovsky (1709-71, St. Petersburg) was a Count (1744), as well as a Court favourite and, legend has it, Empress Elizaveta Petrovna's secret husband (from 1742); he was also General Field Marshal (1756) and Lieutenant Colonel of the Cavalry Guards (1748), retiring in 1762. He was buried at the Holy Annunciation Burial Vault of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. His brother, Kirill Grigorievich Razumovsky (1728-1803) was a Count (1744) and General Field Marshal (1750). He studied in Konigsberg, Berlin, Gottingen and Strasbourg Universities. He was also President of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1746-98) and a Senator (1762). A Palace was built by his order (48 Moika River Embankment, see The Razumovsky Palace). His sons included Count Alexey Kirillovich Razumovsky (1748, St. Petersburg - 1822), a statesman, Actual Privy Counsellor (1807), Minister of Public Education (1810-16), Member of the State Assembly (from 1810), and Vice President of the Biblical Society (1810s); Count Peter Kirillovich Razumovsky (1751-1823), Privy Counsellor (1796), and Chief Chamberlain (1814), who owned Krestovsky Island, and the building at 45 Bolshaya Morskaya Street (1780-96; today House of Composers). He was buried in the Necropolis of the 18th Century. Count Grigory Kirillovich Razumovsky (1759-1837), mineralogist, Honorary Member of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1790), a member of the St. Petersburg Mineralogical Society, and discoverer of the mineral Razoumowskin.<br/><br/>References: Васильчиков А.
