\n \n APTEKARSKY LANE, translated as Pharmacy Lane, between Millionnaya Street and Moika River Embankment. It was laid in 1730s and called Aptekarskaya Street from the early 1730s to 1780s. The lane was so named after the Central Pharmacy moved from SS. Peter and Paul's Fortress in 1734 into a new stone building constructed by architect D. Trezzini in 1732 and reconstructed by architect G. Quarenghi in 1789-96 at 4/1 Aptekarsky Lane where it crosses Millionnaya Street. The pharmacy was situated there until 1839. In the early 19th century, quarters of Pavlovsky Life Guard Regiment were erected at 2 Aptekarsky Lane facing the lane from the rear. House 8 (see Adamini House) was built in 1823-27. The lane was developed with stone buildings in the early 20th century. In 1824, N. P. Muravyev's Constitution was discussed in Decembrist E. P. Obolensky's flat at 4 Aptekarsky Lane (see Decembrists). A. V. Nikitenko lived in the same flat in 1824. Actor P. V. Samoylov lived in house 6 in 1898-1931. House 3 accommodates the editorial office of Avrora Journal.
