\n \n MOSKOVSKOE FREEWAY, between Pobedy Square and line of the Circular Railway, continues Moskovsky Avenue. It appeared in the first quarter of the 18th century as the road to Sarskaya Myza (Tsarskoe Selo) and further on to Novgorod and Moscow (in the 18th century, it was called Bolshaya Moskovskaya Road and Novgorodskaya Road, since the 19th century - Moskovskoe Freeway). In 1950, the lot from Roshchinskaya Street to Pobedy Square was added to Moskovsky Avenue. The freeway was built up in Soviet times. In 1933-34, the building of Kirov Meat-Packing Plant (Building 13, today Samson Open Joint Stock Company). In 1936-41, residential houses for workers of the Meat-Packing Plant were constructed (building 14-16, architects A.A. Yunger, K.N. Lebedev, A.N. Sibiryakov). In 1966-67, a residential area was built at the beginning of Moskovskoe Freeway (Building 2-10, architect S.B. Speransky). In 1941-44, one of the city defensive positions was located by the divaricating of Pulkovskoe Freeway and Moskovskoe Freeway; there two pillboxes have been preserved. On Moskovskoe Freeway, there is the Park of Hero-Cities, St. George Church, Krylov Scientific Research Institute and Diesel Central Scientific Research Institute (building 25).
