\n \n ZAKHARYEVSKAYA STREET, running from Liteiny Avenue to Potemkinskaya Street. The street was laid in the first third of the 18th century, in the area surrounding Liteiny Yard. It was known as Second Beregovaya Line until 1777, then as First Artilleriiskaya Street until 1806. From 1923 to 1991, the street was called Kalyaeva Street, in honour of I.P. Kalyaev, a member of revolutionary movement (1877-1905). In the 1750s, the St. Zachariah and St. Elizabeth Church was built here (hence the name of the street). A Cavalry Guards Regiment riding-hall and barracks were constructed in the early 19th century (houses Nos. 20, 22, 22A, architect L. Rusca). At the turn of the 20th century, several apartment buildings and mansions were built in the street, including house No. 4 (1871-75, architect K.Y. Maevsky); house No. 9, which held the Builder (Stroitel) Joint-Stock Company (1909, architect S.G. Ginger, building rebuilt); house No. 19, the Emperors' Chief's Quarters and the Emperor's Army Marching Office (1913-15, architect A.K. Minaev); house No. 23 (1911-13, architect М. А. Sangaylo); house No. 31, D.B. Neidhardt's former mansion (1911-13, architects I.I. Burgazliev and I.A. Fomin); and house No. 41, K.A. Schreiber's apartment house (1906-07, architect V.I. Van-der-Gucht).
