Opened in the mid-1810s by French immigrant P. Talon in the Kosikovsky Residence building (see House of Chicherin). Alexander Pushkin dined at Talon (the restaurant is mentioned in his verse-novel Eugene Onegin). In spring of 1825, Talon left St. Petersburg, and the restaurant was turned into an information service bureau (which existed for over 10 years); then it turned into Filliette's Restaurant (also often visited by Pushkin), and after a while, into Violet Confectioner's Shop.<br/><br/>Reference: Бройтман Л.
