It has been known since 1500 as a settlement of Vodskaya Pyatina (Votic Fifth). The name originates from the ancient Finnish name of the Dudergofka River - Liga (\"mud, puddle\"). In 1710, Liga village was registered as the land of Tsar Peter the Great. Court servants were settled here. In 1716, a railway platform was built on the Dudergofka River and thus Ligovsky Pond appeared. In the second half of the 18th century, Ligovo belonged to Count G.G. Orlov; it was then, the Ligovsky (today Polezhaevsky) Park was laid out. In the early 20th century, it was a popular country place. The dacha area of Ligovo emerged to the north from the railway junction (lines from Baltiisky Railway Station toward Peterhof and Gatchina). In 1918, it was named Uritsk, in 1925 it was turned into a town, that existed along with an industrial community of Ligovo. From 19 September 1941 to 20 January 1944, Uritsk was occupied with German troops and practically levelled in the course of military operations. In 1963, Uritsk and Ligovo were joined to the territory of Leningrad (today municipal formation Uritsk is a part of Krasnoselsky District). In the 1960s-70s, it was a region of large scale residential building.

References: Рожков А. М.
