The river separates Kamenny Island and Krestovsky Island. It is 0.74 kilometres long and about 40 metres wide, with the depth measuring about 3 metres. The average flow rate is approximately 10 m3 per second. On the right bank of the Krestovka, Krestovka River Embankment was built on Kamenny Island, while the left bank located on the Krestovsky Island, are Deputatskaya Street and Olgina Street. In the 1830s, during the construction of Bolshoy Canal (present-day Krestovsky Canal) on Kamenny Island, a small island appeared on the Krestovka, where a vaulted foot-bridge was constructed over the river in 1963. A rowing club, the sports centre Energiya, is located on the right bank of the river, near its mouth. Krestovskaya Embankment accommodates former summer residences, such as M.A. Wurgaft's summer residence (house No. 2, 1913, architect M.M. Senyaver), His Majesty's Own Summer Residence (house No. 7, 1810, architect G.P. Pilnikov; the building was rebuilt), M.E. Kleinmichel's residence (the house Nos. 8-12, 1901 and 1911-12, architects K.G. Preys and K.K. Meybom) and Kamennoostrovksy Theatre (the house No. 10, 1827, architect S.L. Shustov; the building was rebuilt). Maly Krestovsky Bridge was built across the head of the river .

Y. P.
